I Lost 60 LBS!

I put this page on my web site because I really care about others and I want to help anyone who is trying to improve their health and fitness level. I am not a doctor nor do I have any formal medical or nutritional training. Everything I have learned came from reading and several years of hard work and personal research. (You should always consult your physician prior to changing or starting any nutritional or physical fitness program.) My story is here to show you what really worked for me. I will provide links to the web sites and resources I use as I obtain permission from the owners and authors of those sites so keep checking back here. Please use these links to get valuable information on better health and save time getting there! Using these links will also help me fund this site and gradually expand to get the message out and help people. I would like to start out by sharing one of my best personal successes with people I care about as it could make a positive difference in their lives. I will try to be brief here but would love to talk to anyone more if they are interested. Before I left Michigan and moved to Florida I was 44 years old, out of shape, and weighed 225lbs. At 5’9” this was bad! I was short of breath just walking up a flight of stairs. I had no energy and constant nightly heartburn that woke me up. My pants had grown to a size 38" waist! It just happened. I got so busy with kids, family, work, that I let my health start to deteriorate. One day on the internet I just happened across an article about how bad sugar is for our health. The doctor called it the "White Menace." It made me stop and think about how much sugar I was eating each day. Refined sugar and High Fructose Corn Syrup are in just about every food product we eat these days! It is no wonder we have such an obesity and diabetes epidemic in this country. Well one day I tried to quit eating sugar for just one day! It was very hard but somehow I made it. A day then turned to a week. I suddenly realized that my daily nagging heartburn had vanished and I had more energy. I had a physical and started to exercise again. (Very slow jogging.) After several weeks I had lost weight without going on a true "Diet." I then tried to reduce bad fats (Eliminate all trans fats and hydrogenated oils!) and eat more wholesome food. Then I found a book that totally changed the way I eat and look at food. It is called "Ultra-Metabolism" by Dr. Mark Hyman. The book stressed eating only real natural foods with little or no processed ingredients. This was no fad diet or packaged food plan. I just read the book. I have not followed the plan exactly but I do not eat any trans fats and almost no fried foods. I also eat very little sugar at all and no sweets and have cut out most simple carbohydrates. I started jogging faster, running and using the nautilus machines at local gym. Now several years later I weigh 170 lbs. (This is what I weighed when I was 27 years old and just graduated from the police academy!) My waist size is back to a 32” and my pants fit well with room to spare. I even put on a few pounds of new muscle. This change helps my metabolism burn even more calories even resting. I also adjusted my exercise routine to incorporate a form of "Pace Training" which is an advanced form of interval training. Forget long boring cardio and get yourself in real shape! Get and read the book "Rediscover Your Native Fitness" by Dr Al Sears, M.D. He also has many great products and a wealth of information to help you get going in the right direction. I now get compliments from people who have not seen me in a while and people I don't even know. I feel better than I have in twenty years. This country has a health crisis caused by the way we are taught to eat. I would love to coach people on this as I believe it can save lives and help some avoid or reverse many serious health conditions. You need to read and obtain the knowledge you need to start making a huge change in our life one little step at a time. A year will go by if you do something different, or not, so “Do IT!” You have to ask yourself these two questions. 1) What am I going to do differently this year that I did not do last year to make a change. 2) What am I afraid of that is keeping me from trying something new? You have to be the master of your own attitude so take control of your life now, Today! I wish you the very best and hope to hear from you soon.
